There is only 7 more weeks to 2020...but who's counting? Here at Herbers Seed we have been shifting gears towards 2021 for quite a while. This fall has provided a great window for fertilizer application and we have recently started to ship in corn seed for next spring.
Fall Fertilizer Application
We have had a really good stretch of days to apply fertilizer for the 2021 crop. Field conditions were ideal for 10-14 days at the end of October up until the rain this past weekend. The soil temperatures were rising for a bit last week, but are well below 50 degrees again. The picture below shows the statewide soil temperatures recorded on November 11th.
If the weather holds we will have another good stretch ahead of us starting in the next couple of days.
Warehouse Activity
Herbers Seed is back to looking like a seed company again. We started taking delivery of AgriGold corn this past week. We will continue shipping in seed for the next couple of weeks until our warehouse is full. Getting seed in early guarantees our customers that their seed is physically under our roof and ready to go whenever they are ready to plant in the spring.
2021 is right around the corner. There are a lot of decisions to be made before seed hits the ground next spring. Lou, Mike, and myself are available to help with any questions you may have while planning for 2021.
