Outside Tank Storage
8 Meridian fiberglass tanks 12' in diameter and 37' tall will house the majority of the liquid fertilizers and water. Each tank will hold 30,000 gallons.
4 of the 8 tanks will be dedicated to water storage for a total of 120,000 gallons of water. The remaining tanks will hold 32%UAN, Ammonium Thiosulfate (ATS) and 6-24-6 Starter.
Water tanks will be filled by the two wells along the creek. A float connected to an air-actuated valve will control the water levels in the tanks.
The storage tanks will feed 4 pumps that are 30 HP and capable of loading at a 500 gallon per minute rate. Each of the 3 inside bays has a dedicated pump. The 4th pump will be used exclusively for 6-24-6 which will load in Bay 3.
There will also be two 5 HP pumps tied to smaller 5000 gal tanks that will be utilized to inject additional micronutrients such as Zinc and Boron.
The outside containment is designed to hold 120% of the volume of the largest tank in the event of a leak. The concrete is 2' thick with 2 mats of rebar on 6" centers. Additionally, because the underlying soils are soft, there are 102 "geo-piers". These geo-piers are columns of compacted crushed rock 2' in diameter and 22' deep. These were installed to minimize the settling that will occur when the tanks are filled. The approximate weight will be 1250 tons within the containment when the tanks are full.
